We’re so excited to announce the release of our first wine now available on our website (link in bio)! We’re thrilled with how this one turned out, and can’t wait to share it with you! 🥂

This Sauvignon Blanc has a crisp acidity with citrus notes and a mineral-driven expression. It comes from a single vineyard near the small town of Kenwood in the Sonoma Valley and is made in an old world style, reminiscent of a Sancerre or Bordeaux Blanc, with a small amount of Semillon added to give it increased depth and complexity on the finish. Perfect for pairing with seafood (oysters!), goat cheese, and anything with fresh herbs like parsley, rosemary, and basil.

Blend: 97% Sauvignon Blanc, 3% Semillon
AVA: Sonoma Valley
Clone: SB7 & SB22
Rootstock: 3309
Soil: Decomposed volcanic

Wildwood Vineyards climbs between 450 and 2000 feet up the Mayacamas Range above the Sonoma Valley between Glen Ellen and Kenwood. South facing, the hillside vines cling to volcanic, well-draining soils.

🍇🇱🇺 One of our favorite wine trips was to the Moselle region of Luxembourg (just across the border from France, and on the other side of the river from the more well-known Mosel wine region of Germany).

We were lucky to be able to visit during their annual spring wine festival, when local winemakers hold open houses to share all of their wines with the community. This small but vibrant wine region is home to crisp, mineral-driven Rieslings, elegant Pinot Noirs, and the beautifully crafted Crémant de Luxembourg—a sparkling wine made in the traditional method.

We especially love visiting small countries with unique wine cultures to draw inspiration from, and this hidden gem is absolutely worth a visit.

This varietal is known for it’s crisp acidity, fresh citrus flavors, and distinctive aromatics. Originating in France, this versatile grape can be found worldwide. The cool, limestone-rich soils of the Loire Valley region produce a crisp mineral driven expression (Sancerre, Pouilly-Fumé), while Sauvignon Blancs from New Zealand tend to be zesty and greener, often wth an undercurrant of tropical fruit notes. Sauvignon Blanc is also often blended with Semillon in White Bordeaux.

Wrapping up a very busy and successful harvest weekend! We went out to the vineyards and took samples to test, the next morning grapes were meticulously harvested and sorted, and then we checked and tasted our wine already in the barrels from last year’s vintage. We are so excited about the quality of everything in the barrels, and can’t wait to bottle our wines and share more in the coming months! 🍇 🍷

We are Ryan & Katie Shumacher, a husband and wife winemaking team based in Southern California. We both earned our Sommelier level 1 designation in 2023.

Our wine journey began almost two decades ago while living in Tuscany, discovering the unique local varietals found there. Since then, we have traveled much of the wine world (pictured here in Australia’s Hunter Valley), learning from hundreds of winemakers along the way, in order to be able to bring our own dream of making high-end, international caliber boutique wines to fruition.
